Mackay graduation smiles

CQUniversity recently (April 23) held its graduation ceremony at the Mackay Entertainment Centre.
Guest speaker Andrew Woodley - Hail Creek Mine General Manager Operations - addressed 139 graduates, including 3 celebrating completion of PhDs.

Bachelor of Business (Honours) First Class Maria Tyler delivered the graduates' response.
Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard and Deputy Chancellor Charles Ware officiated at the event.
The PhD graduates included:
- Irene Payne, whose thesis was entitled 'Environmental water relations of the koala, Phascolarctos cinereus, and the importance of the microenvironment in tropical habitats';
- Judith Parson, whose thesis was entitled 'Integration of procedure play for children undergoing cystic fibrosis treatment: A nursing perspective'; and
- Susan Galletly, whose thesis was entitled 'Seeking Ways to Improve Reading-Accuracy Instructions for Australian At-Risk Readers Using Literature Review and Critical Analysis'.
