Expo to map out careers

The 2003 Rockhampton Careers Expo will be held at the Central Queensland University Sports Complex on Tuesday July 29 from 4pm to 8pm.

Most Queensland universities will be represented along with people from the local TAFE College, defence forces, police service and a range of private education providers and work placement agencies.

Organising committee chair Tony Gubbins said the expo would attract many providers who would only be present for the one event and he encouraged everyone to attend.

“The expo is open to anyone who might be looking at entering into their first career or those people who might be looking for a career change,” Mr Gubbins said.

The expo is not only open to school leavers but also to mature aged people and those looking at distance education, undergraduate or postgraduate study. Mr Gubbins said that all CQU faculties would be represented along with the CQU Student Association and other departments of the University.

“Come along and speak with the people who will help you map out your future,” Mr Gubbins said, “whether you are looking at further study, military or police service, traineeships or that elusive job.” The expo is open to the public and is free.
