Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Multicultural Poster Competition Awards 

The winners of the CQ Multicultural Fair poster competition were Michael McCoombes, 1st place for his painting entitled “Goanna Alone”; Hannah May, 2nd place for “The Sunset”; and Josiah Patson, 3rd place for “The Hot Day”. All three are students of Central Queensland Christian College located at Reaney Street, North Rockhampton.

PhotoID:247 School children in Years 1 to 3 were invited to use their imagination and artistic skills to create up to A3 size posters reflecting the Year of the Outback theme.

Ross Quinn, ABC Regional Program Manager and Margaret Appleton, CQU’s Director of Division of Library Services, presented the young students with ABC/CQU prize packs and congratulated on their colourful displays.
