Noosa Campus broadening appeal with fresh courses

CQUniversity Noosa has built a reputation as a hub for Education, Nursing and Social Work degrees and now it's broadening its appeal with a fresh range of courses available in 2012.

The Graduate Certificate in Creative Industries is now offered both on-campus and via distance education, while the Bachelor of Multimedia Studies is also an option based at Noosa.

The Bachelor of Music is offered through CQUniversity Noosa for the second and third year of the degree, as long as students have completed their first year as part of the Diploma of Music at the Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE, and they are enrolled for the Creative Music Technologies or Contemporary Music specialisation.

As previously announced, Noosa is one of two campus hubs for the refreshed Bachelor of Tourism degree (the other being Mackay).

CQUniversity's new Noosa-based Head of Tourism Programs Dr Scott Richardson reckons Noosa's embrace of sustainable tourism puts it on the radar of global peak bodies, giving it recognition as much more than a surf and sand destination.

In tandem with course growth, CQUniversity has approved $2.5 million worth of expansion of its Noosa Campus, agreeing to double student capacity and operational space while upgrading facilities and broadening the range of courses available.

The University Council green light followed confirmation that the campus in Goodchap Street, Noosaville, is set to have its first full-time dedicated Head of Campus. The appointment of Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean Professor Kevin Tickle is designed to drive growth at the facility.
