Staff from AustraLearn, an international student exchange organisation, visited Central Queensland University’s Gladstone campus last week to look at possible connections with the campus.
AustraLearn assists overseas students to study and gain work experience in Australia.
Gladstone Head of Campus, Associate Professor Robert Prater said the group was in Gladstone specifically to look at setting up an internship program with the University’s Centre for Environmental Management.
“We hope that a 10 – 12 week internship program will soon be established to allow students to gain real-life experiences with our researchers at the CEM.
“We also hope that a number of other internships will also become possible within the Gladstone region such as community relations, public administration, community and social work, information and communication technology and with researchers at PELM, our process engineering and light metals centre,” said Mr Prater.
The students would come primarily from North American universities and would spend around three months in the region.
