Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Japanese delegation visits campus 

The Mayor and other delegates from Rockhampton's Sister City of Ibusuki toured CQUniversity Rockhampton this week as part of their visit to re-sign the relationship between the 2 councils.

The Ibusuki group included Mayor Kaname Taharasako, the chairperson of Ibusuki City Assembly Susumu Shinguryou, and the personal affairs secretariat section representative Kaori Hanaki.

DVC Professor Angela Delves welcomed the visitors to the campus during a brief ceremony and gift-exchange coordinated by the Office of Development and Graduate Relations and involving members of the CQUniversity Japan Society, community stakeholders and staff.

The visitors toured the campus, in particular the Language Centre, and were made to feel at home by CQUniversity's Japanese Program Coordinator Taka Yokoyama.
