CQU Bundaberg shows support for White Ribbon Day

November 25 was the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and CQU Bundaberg supported this event with a morning tea.

PhotoID:3755 White Ribbon Day was created by a handful of Canadian men in 1991 on the second anniversary of one man's massacre of 14 women in Montreal. They began the White Ribbon Campaign to urge men to speak out against violence against women.

According to Australian research, over 30% of women will experience abuse in a relationship in their lifetime. Wearing a white ribbon is a visible sign that you do not support or condone the use of violence against women or children.

PhotoID:3756 The Zonta Club of Bundaberg kindly provided CQU Bundaberg and local businesses with around 1000 ribbons to support the event.

Staff attending the morning tea made a gold coin donation to be given to the Women's Refuge.
