Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Conservatorium supports regional youth orchestra initiative 

Musicians from an area larger than Victoria will be involved in a combined concert hosted by Rockhampton Youth Orchestra, from 2pm on Sunday, September 1, at the CQ Community Sports Centre at CQU.

The players will travel from Mackay in the north, Emerald in the west and Bundaberg in the south to be involved.

More than 100 instrumentalists and singers will take part in what has been dubbed the 'Colours of Central Queensland' concert.

Guest conductor Dimitri Kopanakis from Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music will lead the proceedings.

Tickets are $5 for adults ($15 for families) and are available at the door.
