Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Many facets to Emerald science week 

CQU Emerald worked alongside the Central Highlands Science Centre and other community, industry, education and government partners to present a whole week of activities during National Science Week including a schools open day at Emerald State School on Wednesday, August 20, and a science quiz night at the Town Hall on Thursday, August 21.

PhotoID:914 The Department of Primary Industries provided climate, entomology and veterinary information, while the Department of Natural Resources and Mines assisted with Waterwatch. Other participants included Kestrel Coal, Pat\'s Gems, Cotton Australia and the Emerald Police.

Caption 2: CQU Emerald campus coordinator Janice Moriarty presenting first prize to \'Brainy Bunch\' team member Cherie Gordon at the Science Week Quiz Night. Fourteen teams of 10 members strived for places. Teams from Emerald State High School and Emerald State Primary Shool tied for first place, winning their schools $100 each. Second place prize of $50 went to Marist College and the $25 third prize was awarded to another Emerald State Primary School team.
