CQUniversity Australia has opened a representative office in Beijing, enabling exploration of a range of activities in support of its North Asia branding and recruitment strategies...
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) Professor Ken Hawkins says the office, which opened on May 16, will have key responsibilities, including:
- Facilitating admissions interviews and applications for prospective students;
- Assisting students with pre-departure information prior to their arrival in Australia;
- Providing marketing support to CQUniversity's stakeholders, including its recruitment partners throughout China;
- Coordinating collaborations such as cultural and exchange programs between CQUniversity and Chinese universities and other organisations;
- Engaging and building relationships with a growing CQUniversity alumni population in the region.
Professor Hawkins says China is a significant recruitment region for CQUniversity, which has a long-standing commitment to this region.

"With the burgeoning number of Chinese students in both the regional and metropolitan campuses as well as continuing research projects undertaken in collaboration with Chinese universities, the opening of CQUniversity's second international representative office (after Gurgaon near New Delhi) will enable its China-based team to extend its outreach with the Chinese community," he said.
"The opening of a representative office in Beijing is an important step towards a fuller interaction with students.
"Our commitment is not only geared towards recruitment but also the strengthening of relationships with students, industry, partners and alumni. This is also reflected in CQUniversity's participation as a member of the Australia China Business Council and as a silver partner for the Australia China Alumni Association."
An official opening ceremony has been scheduled for September. The event will be attended by key university leaders and faculty, partners, alumni and education officials.
Richard Li has been appointed to lead the China-based team. He graduated from the University of Newcastle in Australia and has been involved in international education for over 10 years. Mr Li has successfully established joint teaching and articulation projects between Australian and Chinese universities.
The CQUniversity representative office is located in the CBD of Beijing. It is a 10-minute walk from Hujialou Station of Subway Line 10 and is next door to Chaowai SOHO.
