Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Graduate gains role with Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau 

CQUniversity communications graduate Freda Unusi has been appointed as marketing manager with the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau.

That is according to a feature in The Solomon Star News, quoting the bureau's March newsletter.

The newspaper reports that Freda, 45, graduated from CQUniversity Brisbane International Campus with a Bachelor of Communication with Distinction in 2002.

It notes she was also granted  membership  in  the  Golden  Key  International  Honor  Society  in  recognition  of  her  outstanding  scholastic  achievement  and  excellence  at  the  University.

The newspaper reports that Ms Unusi has previous experience in public relations, marketing,  community awareness, secretarial duties, and sales and customer services; gained while working as Senior Sales and  Customer Service Officer at the Solomon Islands Water Authority (SIWA).     

Before  that,  Ms  Unusi  was employed  as SIWA's Community  Education  and  Consultation Officer.
