Con singers star in Nellie Melba tribute

Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music graduate Cilla Slack and second-year student Kathleen Campbell are filling 2 of the 3 soprano spots for an Opera North tribute to Dame Nellie Melba in Mackay on May 19.

The concert - from 5pm at Dame Melba House in Marian near Mackay - presents a rediscovery of the wonderful songs such by Melba during her career, along with snippets from the Melba life and background to the songs.

Tickets are available at the door or via the Mackay Entertainment Centre.

Meanwhile, Cilla Slack is heading off to Brisbane soon to audition for the Queensland Opera Young Performers Company, so we wish her well.
