Faculty of Education and Creative Arts lecturers Dr Beverley Moriarty, Lyn Hughes, Helen Holden and Val Cleary are the joint recipients of CQU’s Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Quality Teaching for 2002, according to a statement released today.
“This award recognises that the recipients have demonstrated exceptional teaching skills and support for their students and have created an exciting and challenging environment that stimulates student learning,” said CQU Vice Chancellor and President, Professor Glenice Hancock.
Another award, the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Progress in Research for 2002, was bestowed upon Dr Allan Harrison for his current research in the field of Science Education, which is especially relevant to science education in Queensland where an outcomes-based science syllabus was introduced in 1999. Dr Harrison has also received the 2000 Journal for Research in Science Teaching Award, the 2001 National Association for Research in Science Teaching Award and, most recently, the National Association for Research in Science Teaching Early Career Research Award in 2002.
“He demonstrates dedication to his research activities and a passion for Science Education, from which the University benefits from greatly,” said Professor Hancock. The awards will be presented at the Rockhampton Graduation Ceremony, to be held on Saturday 29 June, commencing at 2.30pm.
