The NSW Branch of ISANA International Education Association meeting was held recently at CQU Sydney International Graduate Campus.
ISANA was the original acronym of International Student Advisers’ Network of Australia.
The meeting was coordinated by Professor Ross Lehman with catering provided by the Sydney International Campus.
The meeting commenced with the presentation of the annual reports, followed by elections.
A special presentation was then given by Constable Ben Purvis from the NSW Police about safety. The presentation was entitled 'Locks, Latches and Purse Snatchers ... the Safety and Security of our Students'.
This was followed by a brief presentation by Stuart McEwen, Business Manager at the Sydney Graduate Campus, who explained about campus security arrangements.
The outgoing State President, Dawn Koban from Macquarie University, reported on branch events during 2006. It seemed that the year was one of the busiest ever for the branch.
There were a number of professional development days offered.
Melanie Duncan, from the Australian Catholic University, North Sydney Campus, was elected State President.
Attendees came from Macquarie University, Central Queensland University, Sterling College, Australian Catholic University, Charles Sturt University, IFSA-Butler and Medibank Private.
