- Sydney graduated almost 1500 students in 4 ceremonies during 2006.
- CQU hosted the The Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management 2006 Conference in December.
- Two CQU projects were nominees for the Business/Higher Education Round Table (BHERT) awards night in Melbourne on November 14.
- The Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) has added 8 of CQU’s good practices to its Good Practice Database.
- Central Queensland University graduates are still ahead of national rates for getting jobs and securing salaries, according to figures released by Graduate Careers Australia in November.
- CQU was presented with the Queensland Multicultural Award for a Large Business in 2006 and highly commended by Queensland Education and Training International for its outstanding International Support Services and Pastoral Care.
- This year the CQU Sydney TECC (Training, Employment and Career Coaching) department has created over 150 volunteer positions for students.
- CQU recently won the Education and Services category in its regional round of the 2006 Premier of Queensland's Export Awards.
- CQU has been awarded 5 stars for Positive Graduate Outcomes, according to the recently-released Good Universities Guide (Undergraduate and Postgraduate editions) 2007.
- Three CQU researchers were recognised for quality research at the 7th International CINet (Continuous Innovation Network) Conference in Lucca, Italy, in September.
- Central Queensland University is now the largest educator of full-degree international students studying within Australia, based on enrolments. That is according to IDP Education Australia figures.

- CQU’s Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering) program has won a national $25,000 Carrick Award for ' Programs that Enhance Learning’.
- The $11.5 million refurbishment project for CQU’s Sydney Postgraduate Campus was completed for the 2006 academic year.
