Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Early Childhood student earns QCWA bursary 

CQUniversity Early Childhood student Jessica Esmond has been awarded the QCWA (Queensland Country Women's Association) Central Highlands Division Annual Bursary.

Each year, the bursary is awarded to a full-time university student studying and living in the Central Highlands. The criteria is based on sound academic achievement and the recipient must have a residential address in the Central Highlands region.

An award presentation was held recently (May 11) at CQUniversity Emerald, to honour the latest recipient.

Jessica is a second-year Bachelor of Learning Management (Early Childhood) student. She received the $500 bursary to assist with university costs from Ngaire Merrifield, Vice President of the Emerald QCWA branch.

Gai Sypher, Operations and Projects Manager at CQUniversity Emerald said she was extremely proud that six students from CQUniversity Emerald have received a QCWA award during the past eight years.

The QCWA Central Highlands bursary has been awarded since 1970, making the organisation one of CQUniversity's most staunch prize donors.
