Sydney conducts OH&S training

The first meeting of the newly established OH&S Committee for the Sydney Graduate Campus identified the need for members to undertake a WorkCover Authority of NSW-approved course in OHS Consultation.
The course selected was run by the Australian Red Cross and ran for 4 days.
Priscilla Arnold, Rowan Peterson, Susan Robertson and Tanoa Ravonu completed the training on October 26 and are now ready to start solving OH&S problems.
According to Ms Arnold: "Greg Adams the trainer kept our interest up with tails of horror from his time as an ambulance officer at BHP. Fortunately our inspection of the Graduate Campus did not reveal any life-threatening OH&S issues. Paper cuts that are left untreated and get infected seemed to be a more likely issue we will have to face".
Ms Arnold said the training had its serious side "as we worked our way through the intricacies of the Act and the Regulations".
The training covered responsibilities for Workplace Health and Safety and the role of the committee in hazard prevention and control, workplace inspections and accident investigation.
