One day they hope for new lecture rooms but for now, CQU Mackay Engineering students are happy to make the most of the new demountable classrooms that have just been added to the campus.
Two have been erected on campus to cater to the students who are now in their second year of Engineering since this program expansion in semester one, this year. Student numbers swelled from 25 to 50 when the second year of Engineering was offered at CQU Mackay.
CQU Mackay Head of Campus, Dr Trevor Davison said a new lecturer, Ahmed Elgezawy, was on his way from the Middle East to teach the second year program.
"When we said we were introducing second-year engineering, nearly all the students came back," said Dr Davison.
Previously, Engineering students could only complete their first year in Mackay and then head to Rockhampton to finish the program. It is hoped that one day, CQU Mackay will cater for the 3-year program completely.
