Kahawa comes to CQU Fiji International Campus
Published on 14 March, 2002
Connoisseurs of coffee and lovers of fine foods have sounded a collective cry of joy at the latest addition to the CQU Fiji International Campus.
Established by director Rosemary Mitchell a little over two and a half years ago, 'Kahawa', Swahili for coffee, has become an institution in the Suva cafi scene. Due to the success of the professionally run operation, expansion was a logical progression. The University of the South Pacific has expressed great interest in having their own Kahawa cafi, but luckily for staff and students, CQU FIC was chosen as the first new venue.
Kahawa Lai Lai (little Kahawa) is currently being managed by Sulu Daunivalu, and with his staff has ably catered to the gastronomic needs of the campus. From cappuccinos to lattes, cakes to croissants, a wide range of herbal and exotic teas and assorted fresh sandwiches, rolls, fruit smoothies and other gourmet delights the menu has provided something for everyone.
Sulu is quite happy with the progress of the new venture so far and is looking forward to a long association with CQU FIC. Future plans include extending the operating hours, and to include a range of fresh salads and noodle dishes to the menu.
The only danger now is that with such a wide selection of delicious delicacies, 'moderation' will have to mean more than just checking the marking of assignments.
Anyone for coffee?
