Professor Delves spoke of becoming a more "engaged university" with business, local and cultural communities such as the mining industry and allied healthcare services, including the delivery of nuclear imaging technology.

More community engagement meant focusing on student needs and providing strong support and assistance programs so they could pursue their lifestyle choices, whether in engineering, business and commerce, health care or information technology services.

Professor Delves said that the goal was to make CQUniversity a "great regional university" and eventually a "great Australian university" within 10 years.

Following the Professor's address the much anticipated Agents Awards presentation commenced.

Three categories of Awards winners were announced:

  • Category 1-recognising the top 10 performing Agents for 2009
  • Category 2-recognising the best conversion Agent
  • Category 3-recognising the Agent committed to promoting CQUniversity

The announcement that IDP Sydney had been voted first among the ‘top 10' agents for 2009 was greeted with loud cheering.

The other award winners in the top 10 category were Oli and Associates, Australian College Information Centre, Hong Young Capital Holdings, EIC Group, AOJI Enrolment Centre of International Education, IAE EduNet, Mondial International, Bizz Education Australia and MTT Co.
