CQCM re-creates 'Little Shop of Horrors'
Published on 17 August, 2006
The staff and students of the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM) have started to welcome audiences for their latest major production.
First, second and third-year Bachelor of Music Theatre students have been working with guest director Trevor Green to re-create the music of Alan Menken and the words of Howard Ashman, to present 'Little Shop of Horrors'.
Trevor brings an absolute wealth of knowledge and skill to the students at CQCM. He has had a multi-faceted career in professional dance, musical theatre, singing, acting, choreography and costume design and creation. He is now the Artistic Director of his own company, DANSING PTY LTD.
Trevor is well known to Mackay, having brought to CQCM a sumptuous production of 'Chicago' in 2003 and the brilliant costumes for 'Copacabana' in 2005.
Sub Dean and lecturer at CQCM, Judith Brown is excited as yet another guest lecturer visits CQCM to work with its students.
“The experience of creating this production allows the students to develop their professional audition skills, as well as have the opportunity to gain professional work experience as part of their program of study,” said Judith.
Mr Green's contributions to CQCM students reach further than his technical and directing skills. He also works with the student as a professional mentor.
“This type of opportunity is an invaluable part of the student’s training,” Judith said.
Show times are:.
Thursday August 17 – 8pm.
Friday August 18 – 8pm.
