Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Graduate chosen as 'young manager of the year' 

CQU graduate Alahna Ford was chosen as Mackay region's 'Young Manager of the Year' , during the recent AIM Management Excellence Awards.

PhotoID:3478 The 24-year-old has expressed pride in winning the category sponsored by CQU Mackay.

Ms Ford attended Mirani High School and completed a business traineeship before completing a Bachelor of Business (HRM) with CQU by distance education, while juggling casual jobs.

She joined Mackay's Apprentice, Careers and Employment (ACE) organisation and impressed so much in her first 12 months that she now is now the manager, in charge of 21 employees.
