Early career academic gained first access to major data on bullying

Bundaberg-based Stephen Grubb's research demonstrated the relationship between workplace bullying and employees' job satisfaction and intention to leave.
In Australia, limited empirical research has been conducted on professional groups.
Mr Grubb used a subset of responses from 300 professionals from the overall survey of 2800 public sector employees, as part of his CQU Bachelor of Business Honours research (which helped him graduate recently with First Class Honours).
While the link between workplace bullying and lower job satisfaction, and increased intention to leave, was expected, Mr Grubb says his initial work indicates it could be useful to further explore variations in the impact of this link in other professional groups. While not ruling out doing a PhD in this area, Mr Grubb is currently forging ahead with a Coursework double Masters in Professional Accounting and Commerce from Deakin University.
He is employed by CQU variously as a part-time lecturer, tutor and research assistant based at the Bundaberg Campus.
