Writers workshop for teachers at North Keppel Island in July
Published on 29 June, 2010
"Getting them writing, keeping them writing" is the theme for a writers' workshop especially for teachers, hosted by CQUniversity and Idiom23 Magazine, from July 30 - August 1, this year.
The workshop is intended to build on professional development for teachers in creative writing and will be held at North Keppel Island Environmental Educational Centre, following a very successful workshop in "Memoir", held in May.
North Keppel Island Environmental Education CentreMichael Hyde, well respected and much published author in the young people's market, will be Writer in Residence.
Coordinator Dr Lynda Hawryluk believes the workshop will encourage teachers from many different streams of the profession to come along to this weekend workshop.
It has been developed with an input from CQUniversity School of Learning and Innovation and from Education Queensland.
Over the last decade, many Central Queensland teachers have joined in the variety of writing workshops held at Byfield, Pumpkin Island and North Keppel Island which have also inspired Idiom23 Magazine's annual output of original stories, poems and articles.
The three-day workshop including transport to the island, accommodation and all meals is $280.
Each participant will receive a certificate for taking part in the professional development program.
The workshop could attract not only teachers keen to obtain professional development in creative writing, but may also interest those entering the teaching profession.
