Probus members visit

CQU Rockhampton this week hosted 33 visitors from the Ladies Probus Club in Yeppoon.

The visitors came to the School of Health & Human Performance for a ‘university’ experience.

The ladies (and a couple of men) range in age from 55 to 92.

Many of the staff from the School of HHP have accepted invitations to be a guest speaker at Probus meetings.

Organiser for the event was Yvonne Toft, senior lecturer in OHS.

Probus is an association of retired and semi-retired people who join together in clubs, the basic purpose of which is to provide regular opportunities to keep their minds active, expand their interests and enjoy the fellowship of new friends.

The word PROBUS is an amalgam of the words PROfessional and BUSiness. All clubs are sponsored by Rotary Clubs, but on formation are self governing. There are men’s clubs, ladies' clubs and combined clubs. New clubs are formed when the need becomes apparent to the local Rotary Club.
