No accident CQU supporting local theatre

CQU is supporting the latest production by new Rockhampton theatre company Absurd Productions.
'Accidental Death of an Anarchist', to be staged at Walter Reid Cultural Centre later in July, has received funding via the Regional Centre of the Arts.
In addition, director Janet Palmer is a CQU staff member and 5 of the 6 cast members are current students or graduates.
Ms Palmer welcomed the chance to highlight the wealth of talent coming out of the University.
"These students are stepping out of their comfort zones. They are participating in real theatre in the real world and hopefully will gain a lot of experience," she said.
'Accidental Death of an Anarchist', by Nobel literature prize winner Dario Fo, is based on true events surrounding the death of an Italian anarchist who "fell" out of the winow of the Milan police headquarters after 4 days of interrogation.
Ms Palmer said that, although the story is based on a tragic event, it is a farce and its roots in slapstick comedy mean it is very funny.
The show will be staged from July 20 to 22 and from July 27 to 29. Tickets are on sale from the Pilbeam Theatre Box Office (dial and charge 4927 4111).
Support has also come from Rockhampton City Council and Arts Queensland.
