Information Systems research recognised in Paris

CQUniversity researcher David Jones has been recognised during a ceremony in Paris for his work on 'one of the world's 5 best Information Systems publications'.
The award recognition for 'The Anatomy of a Design Theory', co-written with Professor Shirley Gregor of ANU (a former CQUniversity staff member), came from the International Conference on Information Systems and its senior scholars.
It was presented in December during the Senior Scholars Consortium at the International Conference on Information Systems in Paris.
The awarded paper was originally published in the top-ranking Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS) and is available at: http://aisel.aisnet.org/jais/vol8/iss5/1/ .
The paper had already been selected as the journal's Paper of the Year, with senior editors saying:
"... this paper offers a unique and strong contribution to the discussions and development around IS theory and, especially, it seeks to ground the emerging notion of design theory into a more comprehensive philosophy of science framework..."
Mr Jones said the paper is an integral part of work within Design Science which was identified as an Emerging Research Front for the Economics and Business field in August last year.
"This recognition identifies design science as an important new approach to research that promises to address the lack of relevance suffered by academic research within the management and information systems disciplines," he said.
"This emerging front is based on a 2004 paper and the authors of that paper quote Shirley Gregor and myself as extending their work," Mr Jones said, citing details at: http://sciencewatch.com/dr/erf/2008/08augerf/08augerfHevET/
Mr Jones is a senior lecturer based at Rockhampton Campus.
