Interactive clean coal display launched at Gladstone

An interactive three-dimensional display was launched at Central Queensland University Gladstone campus by the Gladstone Centre for Clean Coal (GC3).
The display tells the story of coal from its early beginnings to the integral part it plays in the local economy today.
GC3 chairman Dr Colin Greensill said the display, which included working waterfalls and trains, would help inform the Gladstone public about what coal means to it.
“The purpose is to give a three-dimensional concept of the evolution of coal, from its origins through to its current use,” he said.
“Coal underpins a lot of the local economy. We have growth with the local industry and of course that industry relies on power generated using coal.
“GC3 is still searching for funds to help with its goal of promoting coal as a clean and reliable energy source," Dr Greensill said.
GC3 is currently funded through local industries including the Central Queensland Ports Authority (CQPA), Curragh Mine, BMA and NRG Gladstone Power Station.
The interactive display can be found in the Leo Zussino building at the CQU Gladstone Campus.
