Other CQU competitors at the games included Josh Berghuis (swimming) and Belinda Champman (athletics). Berghuis finished 14th in the 100 metre Butterfly, while Chapman finished 15th in the 100m and 16th in the 200m track events.

CQU Student Association Sports Clubs and Events Coordinator, and Team Manager, Brad Reid said the CQU athletes had an exceptionally fun time at the event.

“All our athletes had a great week and enjoyed both the on and off field experiences which university games are renowned for.”.

Reid also said that he expects CQU to send a larger team to next year’s games. “There are so many sports for students to compete in, plus the athletes from this year will be spreading the word, so hopefully the 2004 AUG in Perth will be even more successful for CQU,” Reid said.

The University of Ballarat were the overall winners of this year’s games, which attracted over 4000 students from more than 40 universities across Australia.
