Australia's finest to play at the Fair

Two of Australia’s finest musical talents are coming to town! Nyree Klip, country music star and Blaine Whittaker, saxophonist extraordinaire, will perform at the Central Queensland Multicultural Fair and CQU Open Day on Sunday 11 August.

Singer songwriter, Nyree Klip is a graduate of the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music. She has a passion for ballads, a zest for western swing and a sassy approach to up-tempo country.

PhotoID:198 Her exhilarating and energetic performances thrill audiences all over Australia and New Zealand, where her popularity has soared after winning the 1998 Trans Tasman Entertainer of the Year. Her debut album “Exactly Like Him” has recently been released.

Blaine Whittaker is undeniably one of the most sought after saxophonists in Australia with his band (The GrooveBag) and as a freelance studio and touring musician.

At the Fair, he will be playing with the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music Big Band. The Big Band are highly regarded as one of the best big bands in Queensland.

In 1991 Blaine was recognized as the most promising new Jazz artist in Australia when he was awarded the annual James Morrison scholarship. Since that time, he has become a member and featured soloist of the James Morrison sextet, and has toured nationally and internationally as a member of Australia’s favourite jazz band GALAPAGOS DUCK.

Blaine regularly performs at jazz festivals across the country, the most recent being the Darling Harbour Jazz Festival and the Australian Jazz Festival in Canberra.

PhotoID:199 CQU Events Manager Gina Yarrow said “we are extremely privileged to have such musical talent performing at the Fair. Both artists are highly regarded in their respective industries and both have performance links with the University. Last year, Nyree was a head-line act at the Gala Opening of the New Conservatorium in Mackay.” Nyree Klip will perform on the main stage at 1.25pm and Blaine Whittaker and the Big Band will perform on stage 2 at 12.35pm.
