Farewell CQCM performance entertains packed crowd

Comical anecdotes about university life formed part of the winning formula used to entertain the crowd that packed the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music on Friday night in Mackay.
As part of their farewell performance, two third-year Central Queensland Univeristy Music Theatre students performed alongside Music Theatre co-ordinator Judith Brown.
Ms Brown said Madeline Cain and Emily Fraser jumped at the chance to make the cabaret part of their formal assessment, and together with Julie Price last weekend, they have created individual shows that use their combined skills of singing, acting and movement.
"They have put a tremendous effort into making this performance unique and appealing to the audience," she said. "One of the aims of the degree courses at the Conservatorium is to help students in the creation of their own work, and for Music Theatre students, cabaret gives them an ideal opportunity to create something special for themselves." "Once students graduate, they often have to generate their own work in the performance industry, so this cabaret experience has been very enlightening for them all." On December 3 some of the Music Theatre graduates will travel south and perform for Melbourne theatrical agents in a bid to gain work in the industry.
