Rocky 'fruit drive' promotes healthy option

CQUniversity Rockhampton academics Dale Trott and Stefan Koehn are organising a 'fruit basket drive' to promote healthy alternatives and to combat diabetes.

During this week (April 20-24), all interested people have been encouraged to buy fruit in lieu of an afternoon sugar hit of biscuits, soft drinks or chocolates.

"It was hoped that by making a healthy selection of fruits available, people would be encouraged to consider their eating habits and make the healthy choice the right choice," Dale said.

There is still one day of fruit buying to go, so pre-order your fruit or buy from the volunteers as they pass by your door on campus. Send an email copy of your completed form (available HERE) to Stefan Koehn (s.koehn@cqu.edu.au) and the volunteers will do the rest.

The patron for the event, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Angela Delves, is a keen advocate of any initiatives that support wellness in the workplace.  LINK here for a message from the DVC The initiative also has the support of the Office of Development and Graduate Relations.
