Gladstone graduation coincided with 25th anniversary

CQU Gladstone’s recent graduation ceremony also helped to mark 25 years since the campus began in the Harbour City.
City residents were encouraged to witness a bagpipe-led procession along Goondoon Street by the 41 graduating students and CQU staff members.
Historian and author Dr Grace Johansen was guest speaker for the graduation, which was followed by a ceremony to recognise the organisations and individuals who have made the campus successful.
Presentations were made to long-term Gladstone Advisory Committee members, industry partners and individual supporters and sponsors.
Recognition medals were also awarded to the families of the late Reg Tanna, Col Brown, Bruce Hiskens and Sid Durrington (who all served on CQU Gladstone's advisory committee in the 80s and 90s).
Other individuals and organisations recognised on the day included: Long-term Gladstone Advisory Committee Members (past and present) - John Abbott, Peter Corones, Rennie Fritschy, Bill Fry, Tony, Graham Wilson, Leo Zussino; Industry Partners - Boyne Smelters Ltd, Queensland Alumina Ltd, Gladstone Port Authority, BHP Billiton and Stanwell Corporation; Supporters - Alex Campbell, Noel Bowley, Liz Cunningham, MLA, Phil Kelly andPaul Neville, MP; and Friends - Cyril and Shirley Golding & Tony and Margaret Goodwin.
