Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Former Sydney award recipient wins scholarship 

Former Sydney International Campus student Christian Lik Shan Chu, has been offered a full scholarship to the University of Bradford in England to study a Master of Science in Digital Special Effects.

PhotoID:3383 Christian was awarded the Sydney International Campus Directors award at his graduation in September 2005 for outstanding leadership after graduating from the Bachelor of Multimedia Studies with Distinction.

With high hopes of working in the film industry, Christian is aiming for a career in special effects.

He said he would like to work in Australia, however he says there are not many opportunities here as there are very few Sydney-based effects companies. He is happy to go wherever the work may be.

Christian will spend a short time travelling home to Malaysia before commencing his studies at the University of Bradford soon.
