Staff and students at CQU Sydney International Campus gathered for an opportunity to rub shoulders and engage in a social gathering outside the classrooms with free soft drinks and a barbecue provided for all those who attended.

This social event is put on regularly during term 1 and term 2 every year to provide an opportunity for new and continuing students to get together and mingle.

Among the many who attended was International Cultural Advisor for CQU Sydney and Melbourne campuses, Dr Martand Joshi, who enjoyed the day mingling with students.
A former Honorary Consul of India, Dr Joshi completed his Bachelor of Science and Masters in Science in Bombay and was awarded a Fullbright Scholarship to study at Princeton University in New Jersey, USA. He then gained his PhD from the University of California.

Dr Joshi expanded his academic merit as a lecturer in the United States and calls upon his vast experience as an international student and teacher to advise international students about different cultural experiences.  His belief in reinforcing and protecting the reputation of Australian tertiary education coupled with his experiences as a diplomat and academic proved popular with staff and students.

The students enjoyed the fabulous weather, the tasty barbecue and the informal atmosphere which gave them the opportunity to share their experiences with Dr Joshi.

Other attendees included Undergraduate SIC Campus Director Barbara Abou-Lehaf and Associate Director Academic, Dr Stephen Howlett.

It was a great opportunity for staff and students to mingle and chat over a great Aussie tradition - the Aussie Barbecue.
