Bundaberg Conference Gears Teachers Toward Future Success

What exactly makes a grand teacher, the one you will always remember and the one that inspires students to achieve great things? Bundaberg’s Central Queensland University students will hear from two international experts tomorrow (Friday May 16 between 9am and 3.45pm) about the characteristics and skills they need to ensure they become great teachers in the future.
An internationally renowned former state government education advisor and an American professor will explain the conference theme “Developing notions of what an entrepreneurial professional might be”.
Professor Janice Koch, a visiting professor from New York’s Hofstra University, and Eric Frangenhein are the guest speakers.
The conference is a great opportunity to encourage students and recent graduates, already working in local schools, to ask themselves what makes a teacher exciting in the classroom.
The guest speakers will explain the necessity of thinking outside the square, and also the reasons why and where the notion of entrepreneurial thinking came from.
After the morning session students will participate in workshops with the visiting experts.
CQU Bundaberg lecturer John Hunt (PICTURED) believes the conference is another example of the University meeting the modern needs of educators.
“At CQU we are committed to ensuring we provide an excellent education for students and we want to ensure the Bachelor of Learning Management students have the knowledge and skills to teach in classrooms from the very beginning and continuously throughout their careers.
“I think it will be very beneficial for the current final year students to talk with the recent graduates and find out how relevant their studies are in meeting the needs of students today and in the future.”
