Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Budding engineeers gather at CQU Rockhampton 

Thirty-nine high school students from throughout Queensland have spent the past week at CQU Rockhampton as part of the Future Engineers Australia Management Project (FEAMP) run by The Engineering Link Group.

PhotoID:1788 FEAMP is designed for students entering Year 12 who want to boost their skills in team dynamics and problem solving; management and leadership; entrepreneurship; marketing and communication; venture capitalisation; time management and engineering.

The FEAMP participants stayed at Capricornia College and were mentored on campus by a range of visiting experts.

Lecturers included Peter Bonney (Queensland State Development), Frank Downes (Grabba.com), Allan Tayt (Bridgeworks Marketing) and Greg Peel (Pricewaterhouse Coopers). CQU staff member Inge Leibnitz was involved in a presentation on arranging venture capital.

The participants presented trade displays featuring their business plans, prototype designs and marketing proposals.

FEAMP 2005 was supported by Stanwell Corporation and the Queensland Department of Main Roads.
