Physical Activity program offers 'virtual' walk of Kokoda Trail

Australia's 10,000 Steps program offers an April challenge of a 'virtual' return walk along the length of the infamous Kokoda Trail, in recognition of ANZAC Day.

PhotoID:2970 10,000 Steps Project Officer Anetta Hinchliffe said the challenge of walking a return journey of the trail (up and back) is 192km and 240,000 steps long.

"To complete the challenge within the month of April, you will have to average 7742 steps each day," she said.

"For those who would like an extra challenge – they can aim to complete the journey before ANZAC Day, April 25. To do this, you will have to average over 10,000 steps each day".

Ms Hinchliffe recommended that everyone visit the newly updated 10,000 Steps website (www.10000steps.org.au), where individuals can register for FREE to have their own Step Log.

PhotoID:2971 A new feature of the website is the Individual Challenges section which provides a new challenge every month. There are great prizes to be won.

Details about the Kokoda Challenge are also available via phone 07 4930 6751 or email 10000steps@cqu.edu.au .
