VC's forum pioneers dual-stream videoconference

When CQUniversity's Vice-Chancellor stepped up for his first videoconferenced staff forum for 2010 this week (Feb 18), he was helping to pioneer a new dual-stream presentation and recording format.

Essentially, the format enables presenters and their materials, for example powerpoints or videos, to be seen simultaneously across the participating campus sites.

Recorded lectures available for student perusal will also include the 'dual' presenter and materials view, for added comprehension.

One of the project leaders Roy Pidgeon said there had been an extensive upgrade to the University's ISL (Interactive Systemwide Learning) videoconference theatres and lecture recording systems across the campus network.

"Staff and students will be able to see both the presenter and the materials being presented simultaneously with no more manual switching within sessions," Roy said. "The control systems in each major theatre have been designed by academic teaching staff, making them more intuitive to use by presenters and students.

"The lecture recording system can now record both streams (presenter & materials), greatly improving the lecture play-back experience for study revision. The system will offer greater quality and reliability as aging infrastructure and configurations are replaced with this latest generation technology."

More detailed information about the upgrades and feature enhancements is provided on the CQUniTechnology web page:
