Early career academics nurtured

CQU has launched a new 15-week program to nurture its early career academics and organisers of the initiative are excited about an initial sign-up of 27 staff members.

The program is being trialled in Rockhampton with a view to rolling it out to other campuses later on.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Angela Delves and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Jennelle Kyd attended a launch for the ECAP at the CQU Rockhampton Library on Friday.

Program leader, participant and supporter Dale Trott said the ECAP was a fresh approach to supporting recent appointments to academia.

"The team behind me on this program - Leone Hinton, Yvonne Toft, Stacey Doyle and others yet to be announced - are developing a program to meet your needs," Mr Trott said.

"We have years of experience in the team and will be involving expertise in areas such as research and innovation, community engagement and teaching and learning."

ECAP is designed to gain engagement from all those connected with academics in their first years of academic placement.

It is also intended to provide an environment in which the new academic can feel free to share experiences and attitudes.

A concurrent program will be conducted to up-skill mentors involved with ECAP.
