Teachers try out technology at CQU

State school teachers from the Gladstone region attended a workshop on Wednesday to learn more about implementing a new technology curriculum in the classroom. The workshop was held at Central Queensland University Gladstone campus and was facilitated by current and former CQU staff.
Workshop facilitators, Associate Professor Ken Appleton and John Hunt, said the day was funded by the Australian Government’s Quality Teacher Program Funds.
“This workshop aimed to help teachers cope with the newly distributed technology syllabus," Associate Professor Appleton said.
“The activities centred on exploring technology and the type of activities they can use in their own classrooms.
“One of the activities required the teachers to build a geodesic dome from newspaper and masking tape.
“Another task included designing packaging and a marketing program for a new sherbet.” Associate Professor Appleton said he hoped further workshops would be held later in the year.
