Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Our music students jazz up the Glenmore 

Rockhampton music lovers heard some of our emerging jazz talents thanks to a free concert at the Glenmore Hotel this week.

The concert was presented by students from CQUniversity's Bachelor of Music program, who are pictured during final rehearsals on campus.

Cory Owens, one of two drummers in the featured band, is a third-year student who aims to gain employment in the field of instrumental music teaching in future. Originally from Mackay, Cory joined the degree program in the first year of its establishment at Rockhampton Campus.

Cory was joined on stage by Mitchell Hagger (also on drums), Vicky Cotta (keyboards), Tauren Vincent (guitar), Tom Lagan (bass), Luke Scott (tenor sax), Amelia Kase (vocals) and Shanice Andersen (vocals).
