Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Free 'Actively Ageing' Forum on Rockhampton Campus 

The Capricornia Healthy Ageing Taskforce will present a free 'Actively Ageing' Forum at the CQ Community Sports Centre on CQUniversity Rockhampton Campus, from 8.30am-3pm on Wednesday, February 24.

This interactive forum about staying active includes guest speakers and giveaways and will be held in the new Exercise and Sport Sciences lecture theatre.

Topics will include strength, balance, mobility, flexibility, behaviour change and motivation, bone health and continence. There will be compelling evidence for staying active and information on prescribing and participating in physical activity.

Special guest Alison Ford is a Brisbane-based physiotherapist who has worked in the field of exercise for 30 years. Alison has a keen interest in helping people stay fit and healthy into their older age.
