Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Showcase of studies vital to Australia's future 

Australia is crying out for scientists, engineers and health workers in an internationally competitive market for their skills, so Central Queensland University is keen to showcase its range of study options leading to these careers.

Visitors to the Open Day will have the chance to roam through a range of buildings and laboratories, including displays and activities from the areas of biology, environmental management, biomedical sciences, nursing and engineering.

Social Work will have a special tent display operated by students of this degree.

There'll be plenty of hands-on options for the young and young and heart, including the museum of biological specimens and the mock hospital.

Students considering career options have the change to talk to specialists from a range of fields.

CQU's Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Health is a cornerstone of the University's new research focus on 'Resourcing Queensland' and also contributes strongly to the new 'Healthy Communities' flagship.

CQU nursing is celebrating its 20th anniversary and visitors are encouraged to wander through the training wards and to be tested by staff and students.

Health and Human Performance is moving towards an industry-integration model with work placements, so why not come and inspect the extensive human performance testing laboratories on campus?
