Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Melbourne lawyer to inspire new CQU graduates 

Melbourne law firm partner and bank director David Lurie will attend the Central Queensland University Melbourne International Campus graduation as the official guest speaker, next Tuesday, May 17.

PhotoID:1939 Mr Lurie will inspire the new graduates to strive for excellence in their careers. Lurie is a partner at the Melbourne-based law firm, B2B Lawyers, and a director of the Merchant Bank, Cullen Capital Pty Ltd. He has worked closely with the legal profession and the finance and property industries for 20 years.

More than 190 graduates will attend the ceremony to be staged at the John Batman Theatre, Melbourne Convention Centre, Corner Flinders and Spencer Street, from 2pm.

Acting Chancellor Charles Ware and Vice-Chancellor Professor John Rickard will take part.

Campus Director’s Awards will be presented to Parampreet Singh, Choi Ha Kan and Fan Zhou. The closing address will be performed by Mr Singh.

The Professional Doctorate (Transdisciplinary Studies) will be presented to Patricia Stewart for her thesis titled 'Relationship between the level of persistence of international students to stay enrolled, organisational characteristics and student support mechanisms'.

During the proceedings, The Trinity College Choir will perform.
