Light rained has signalled the beginning of mid-year enrolment orientation activities at Central Queensland University Mackay. Eighteen internal mode and nine external mode students were invited to attend a variety of academic-related workshops on Wednesday and Thursday.
Campus Support Officer Jocelyn Wood said the activities were designed to enhance existing skills and to allow students a chance to explore the university before beginning the winter semester.
“Students were involved in activities that related to refreshing their computer technology skills, through to learning active study techniques and how to access resources at the library,” she said.
“Essential information on admissions, enrolments and tuition fees were also discussed as often students have concerns that are best resolved in a face-to-face environment.
Social activities included a formal welcome from Vice-Chancellor Professor Glenice Hancock and Mackay Acting Head of Campus Bruce Knight, advice from faculty staff and a Student Association barbecue.
