Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

InfoCom hosts postgraduate networking evening 

More than 50 current postgraduate coursework and research students and staff attended the Postgraduate Networking Evening held by the Faculty of Informatics & Communication in Rockhampton last week.

PhotoID:2042 Guest speakers included School of Information Systems lecturer Louise Hawkins, Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning) Elizabeth Tansley and Margaret Rogers (who recently completed her PhD).

They spoke of their student journey, their transition to the workforce, their achievements and where they see their future.

Associate Professor in Information Systems and Director of INFOCOM Graduate Programs Greg Whymark said students were enthusiastic about networking with other students and staff and took the opportunity to ask some hard questions.
