All Systems Go - CQU computer systems up and running
Published on 14 November, 2002
The installation of the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that delivers electricity to Central Queensland University computer systems was restored Sunday.
Systems, which were knocked off-line following a fire late Friday, 1st of November, have been operating via temporary power lines for more than a week with minimal impact on university operations The changeover to the new equipment occurred at 2:15PM Sunday, during a 6hr and 15 minute procedure, which was completed ten hours ahead of schedule. A UPS supplies “clean” electrical power to the central computing systems through batteries, which protects them from surges or reductions in general electricity.
