Scores turn out to see Blood and Women Who Win

CQU Press successfully launched Women Who Win, with Premier Beattie in Parliament House, on Wednesday. A re-print had been ordered even before the book launch due to an increased demand from Angus & Robertson.
It follows a blowout tour of the State for the launch of Blood Stains the Wattle, which ended at CQU Rockhampton’s Old Supreme Court building, where CQU press has its offices, last Friday.
More than 65 guests turned up to buy an autographed copy of Blood Stains the Wattle and meet author Keith DeLacy, former Queensland Treasurer. The novel, DeLacy’s first, recreates the environment and culture of one of the most memorable and important events of Australian history – the Mt Isa Land Dispute of 1964.
It’s just one of the latest titles from CQU Press, which has sold more than 50,000 books this year -- a record performance generating well over $500,000 in external income for the University.
“Six weeks from Christmas and we are flat out, inundated with book orders from individuals, bookshops and newsagencies in the USA, the UK, New Zealand and Australia, ” explains Professor David Myers, Publisher Central Queensland University Press.
The final book launch for the year will be for The Indispensable Goat, a research project of the Queensland Museum, on November 20th.
Almost a quarter-million CQU Press colour catalogues will be placed this month in Women’s Weekly, Women’s Day, Queensland Country Life, NQ Register, and Blue’s Country Magazine. They are also directly available from CQU Press Shop located in the Old Supreme Court Building in Rockhampton or at http://www.outbackbooks.com/. Holiday orders are being filled now. Order early.
