Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Outback paid work experience available for students 

CQU’s Careers and Employment Service, in cooperation with local government departments and shire councils, is offering paid vacation work for its students.

The annual Central Western Placement Program (CWPP) will offer 17 paid positions during the 2005/2006 vacation period. All expenses will be paid including salary, accommodation and travel.

Students will receive professional work experience while enjoying an exciting outback experience.

Great outback locations are available including Bedourie, Birdsville, Winton and Barcaldine with positions available in accounting, occupational health and safety, business, tourism, communications, public relations, and several civil engineering positions.
